Nobodys fault but mine. The lingering sent of sex and cigerettes the slight pang of rum, that crule light of morning told her he was gone. The sent, his sent clung to her sheets, her skin and her heart. Her mind screamed that she needed to get a grip before she fell agian, but it was to late. Her heart was in the cluctches of a man who didn't care, or so he said. The way he held her was another story entirely; taking her cellphone from under he pillow next to the knife she had, her frown plastered to her face. There was no text message explaing himself, no missed call. Nothing. A bittersweet ache killed her as she walked to feed the mewling beast, flashes filled her mind of the night before. The laughter and the convorsations, she was careless with her heart it seemed. He had promis

Falling like rain. It has often been said the people who smile the warmest are the most tourtued on the inside, she had found this to be true about the man who stood before her. Holding her; protecting her. A small smile crosses her lips as she looks up, he was thinking agian. Attachment. Looking up at the celing wishing he could see the stars, he holds her like he cares. She can't tell, he kisses her and laughs with her. He acts like he cares and yet he breaks her heart silently when he confesses. "That's the thing though, I can't get attached anymore. I have to drink to make me want this." He squeezed her softly, she wanted to tell him she loved him. Instead she listenes and says with a sad smile, "Honestly, I want to see you happy. Weather it be with me or someone else or no one..." Her voice lightly warboled. "As long as you're happy I don't care." They talked about his little girl and his parents, about the hellish wars hes been in and what he's seen. They talked about her past and the domestic hell she she lived though, her dreams and his long forgotton ones.
